After the launch of two years, the government has taken a step ahead to start the implementation of central government Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Delhi. The government has recently made a get together of officials to sort out of obstacles of implementation of PMAY-Urban in Delhi. This official meeting was chaired by Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal in the problem has been sort out for the implementing PM Awas Yojana in Delhi
Besides, an agreement had also been signed in between the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation (MoHUPA) and Delhi government.
And argument had been arisen by Delhi government regarding to the land ownership in Delhi. Since the land ownership in Delhi is under the jurisdiction of the Centre, which holds it through Delhi Development Authority (DDA), it would not be prudent to make some commitments on its part. Only some of land in the Delhi is the cover of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) which is under the Delhi government.
In the last official’s meet, the decision was taken on the matter of signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the HUPA, the DDA and the DUSIB to open the doors of implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban in Delhi.
The MoA requires a some commitments of Delhi government including, the amendments in the master plan for earmarking land for affording housing and creating a single window for time-bound clearance system for layout approvals and building permissions.
DDA and DUSIB would participate in the implementation of components of urban housing mission as a state-level nodal agencies.
Till now, MHUPA has sanctioned the construction of about 18,75,000 affordable houses for urban poor of almost all states in the country with an investment of over Rs. 1 lakh crore of which the central assistance is Rs. 29,409 crore.
